Microbial Cellulose (MC) has distinct physico-chemical characteristics that make it unique amongst biomaterials. It is a safe material that offers an enormous fluid retention capacity and can maintain its shape and mechanical properties when hydrated. The lead application for the MC technology is in the area of wound care where the Company has acquired the rights to finish manufacture and market a product known as NanoDerm™ for Canada and the Middle East.. We anticipate an accelerated regulatory approval for this Medical Device through the Canadian Health protection Branch (HPB) as a class 2 device and with predicate devices, in the Middle East. Axcelon will rapidly follow the Canadian launch of NanoDerm™ with the launch of the Company’s proprietary, premium wound care product – NanoDerm Plus™. Axcelon’s unique approach to incorporating Silver into the MC nanomaterial can bring a stability advantage over currently available antimicrobial dressings that would result in decreased needs for dressing changes and wound care.
